Release Review




Xtext 2.6 contains many bugfixes, performance improvements and new features, such as support for gradle, task tags and various enhancements to the Java support (Xbase).

Xtend 2.6 contains many bugfixes, performance improvements and new features such as anonymous classes, inner classes, traditional for loops, synchronized blocks, open implementation, and many more.

Architectural Issues: 

The Xtext code base remains high quality. Changes go through reviews and new features or any other changes are covered by unit tests.

Security Issues: 

no known security issues

Non-Code Aspects: 

The user documentation is up to date and extensive. The website is uptodate as well. The newsgroup is very active.

Usability Details: 

We stick to existing and established Eclipse patterns.

End of Life: 

no breaking API changes in this release


no standards are used or implemeted


The community is very active. The newsgroup gets around 15 messages every day. Bugzilla is busy and the project also gets contributions through gerrit on a regular basis.
