The project is about developing a software to manage all the data around products. The term “product” should be largely understood as it could be a manufactured good, pharmaceutical one, apparel or anything that is made, assembled, packaged by an organization. Most of the time, a product is a mix of hardware and software binaries that must be managed under configuration.
Data could be of various forms: meta-data, binary files, 3D representations. The project has to face many challenges: before attaching data on it, we need to model products accurately and that for different point of views (design, manufacturing, marketing, servicing) moreover data has to be shared securely across multiple stakeholders inside and outside the enterprise.
The software starts as an end-user application, but aims as being a platform as new extension points will be introduced in the coming version.
