We hereby nominate Michael Saborov for the Eclipse Committer Election.
Michael is a senior software engineer at BMW with extensive expertise and experience. He is one of the main developers and architects of the configuration management module:
His Github handle is: https://github.com/michaelsaborov
Michael leads the configuration management team, organizing and guiding all technical meetings related to the configuration management module:
We've already requested a committer role for Michael Saborov in the past, as the config management module was initially contributed to S-Core by BMW.
- https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/automotive.score/elections/electi…
Following the Eclipse Foundation’s statement that “It is natural to make the developers who built the contributions committers at the same time,” we expected committer approval. Unfortunately, this was declined by PMC, which has resulted in stalled development activity—fewer than 15 commits in the last three months:
This slowdown is due to the fact that the people familiar with the codebase cannot perform normal development workflows, including:
- merging PRs
- creating releases
- approving workflows.
We kindly request that Michael Saborov be granted committer rights to enable continued development of the configuration management module, an important component for the S-Core v1.0 release. We, as BMW, confirm that Michael Saborov is the right person to serve as the lead developer and maintainer for the existing code of the configuration management module.
It is my pleasure to nominate Michael Saborov as a committer on Eclipse Safe Open Vehicle Core.

| Alexander Lanin | 0 | This is a very difficult vote. Within config_provider I can see only 2 contributions from Michael in October and December. While they are huge, they are also old. On https://github.com/michaelsaborov we can clearly see, that there was no open source activity this year. There are almost no stuck PRs in config_management, so it's hard to argue that PRs are not getting merged or workflows not getting approved, without committer status for anyone. --- However the linked discussion shows clear evidence that Michael leads a weekly meeting on the topic. Therefore he is a maintainer of that topic. Therefore it seems correct to give him committer rights, to maintain that topic. --- Voting 0 for now, as I have no idea. |
| Volker Häussler | 0 | I had never the chance to work with Michael before and I'm not so involved in his contributions to S-CORE. So I'm not able to vote for the moment. |
| Alexander Schemmel | +1 | |
| Frank Scholter Peres | +1 | Thank you Michael for the contribution to config management and leading the FT config management. |
