Election for Stephan Bauer as Project Lead on Eclipse Tractus-X

Nominee
Role Type
Criteria

I would like to nominate Stephan Bauer (https://github.com/stephanbcbauer) as project lead. He joined the Eclipse Tractus-X Project on March 16, 2023 as a contributor and initially was a key contributor for the Connector Kit documentation (https://github.com/eclipse-tractusx/eclipse-tractusx.github.io/tree/mai…). In October 2024, he joined the Catena-X e.V. He was nominated for the committer role on October 11, 2023 and gained the committer status following an election by the community of committer.

He prepares and moderates key open meetings (such as open refinement and planning, https://eclipse-tractusx.github.io/blog/open-planning-days-pi12). He has organized and coordinated the last open planning sessions, which hosted over 70 participants. These meetings are crucial to Tractus-X, and Stephan plays a significant role in them. He was also an active participant (as a Moderator, Coach, and Organizer) in the first Tractus-X Community Days. He was in charge of a workshop that educated participants on utilizing various services within Tractus-X. Given the number of beginners, his responsibility included knowledge dissemination in his section. Moreover, he coordinated the creation of the first End-to-End Adopter Journey tutorial, which serves as an introductory pathway to the Catena-X data space (https://eclipse-tractusx.github.io/docs/tutorials/e2e/).

Communication:
He communicates openly and transparently through the Tractus-X mailing list and encourages developers to subscribe. He actively participates in open hours and promotes transparency by urging colleagues to share their meetings with the open-source community (https://eclipse-tractusx.github.io/community/open-meetings). Additionally, he engages with the community via the Matrix chat, connecting individuals and offering support on various topics. Day-to-day, he engages with the community, ensures the quality of issues, oversees assignments, and facilitates discussions within Tractus-X. He is a welcoming member of the open-source community and always tries to strengthen and expand the community.

Siegfried Kiermayer +1 Stephan has a good grasp on how to manage the community overall. He would be a good addition as a Project Lead.
Malte Hellmeier 0 I really appreciate the effort Stephan made, like organizing events, open planning, etc. A project lead should know and apply the Commiter Handbook, be aware of all developer guidelines (TRGs in our case), etc. Nevertheless, I still see different improvements. I think every PR should have a detailed description and shouldn't be merged from the person itself (see for example eclipse-tractusx.github.io/pull/152, eclipse-tractusx.github.io/pull/513, eclipse-tractusx.github.io/pull/490, eclipse-tractusx.github.io/pull/474). Also, I don't see any pull requests that show how the Eclipse-specific tools and guidelines are used and applied (created IP tickets, usage of the Dash tool, etc.). Without showing experience and knowledge in this area, I can't give +1 and therefore abstain from the voting.

Fabian Grün +1 Big thank you to stephan´s effort and i support / appriciate his approach to bring us all together.

Tom Meyer 0 Great and supportive person. Highly appreciate the drive. But fully agree with Malte as a bit more experience in FOSS Governance would be beneficial. Not blocking but revealing some room for improvement for this specific lead role as support of committers is one part of the role.
