Election for Matthias Rüster as Committer on LocationTech GeoPeril

Role Type
Criteria

The project has been inactive for some time and code base hasn't moved that far. Since the code base was not changed fundamentally Matthias started an initiative this year to make use of new technologies for the overall software architecture and integrate the relevant code from the previous version. In this vein we intend the development of an state-of-the-art and more sustainable version with the functionality that is known from its predecessor version.

Therefore, I'd like to suggest electing Matthias as committer. Unfortunately, his contributions are not visible to others, since the respective code base isn't publicly released, yet. So citing contributions is not possible with this committer nomination. Once elected, Matthias would proceed by pushing new code to the
repository. However, team members know Matthias' contributions from the internal repository. If necessary, an already elected committer may push a state with Matthias contributions to the public repository for evidence.

Hannes Fuchs +1 We merged the refactoring work of Matthias with the bugfixes commit by previous committer (Johannes, Sven and me). This improved the repository to get better started. I also talked with him about the future, the new architecture and looked into his code changes of the upcoming version. The new version looks very promising and removes some legacy code. There is still work to do and since he is working manly to improve the code and architecture he should be able to push the changes so it becomes public visible.
