Andrew James Pielage, a member of the Jakarta EE Specification Committee, has requested a Termination Review for Jakarta RPC due to prolonged inactivity and failure to progress through the Jakarta EE Specification Process (JESP). The specification completed its Creation Review on January 19, 2022, but has never delivered a 1.0 release and is approximately three years overdue for the Progress Review required to maintain an active specification.
Prior to requesting termination, the project community was consulted through the Jakarta RPC development mailing list, where the proposal received very few responses and little support for continuing the specification. The Jakarta EE Specification Committee mailing list was also consulted and received no responses in support of keeping the specification active.
The Specification Committee had previously agreed that termination requests of this nature could proceed under lazy consensus. Given the lack of progress, sustained activity, and community support for continuation, Andrew has formally requested that Jakarta RPC proceed to a Termination Review.
