The project leadership certifies that the APIs in this release are "Eclipse Quality".
No architectural changes for this release.
There are no security issues.
Documentation is barely being maintained. The project relies on internet searches and questions on the forum or mailing list to address user issues.
Some new context-menu actions have been added to provide users easier access to certain debugger feature.
We have officially announced on the mailing list that the CDI debugger framework will be removed from the CDT code base in the next CDT release. No steps in that direction will be taken in this 8.8 release. This will reduce code complexity and confusion to newcomers. CDI has not be worked on for years and has been replaced by the DSF framework.
No changes for this release.
Development activities continue for CDT and are quite varied. The debug component, the parser, the build system, the static analyser (codan), the support for remote, and other components are getting some attention from committers and contributors.
We see interactions on the mailing list from adopters and get continued confirmation that CDT is being extended by many companies.
The user community interacts with the project through the forum at a very manageable pace.
We have seen some consultants getting involved in CDT to address their customer's issues. We hope to see this continue and to grow the number of our committers.
