Background

The Adoptium Working Group agreed to support the Adoptium TLP PMC in creating a dedicated project as a place to try out new runtime, build, test, and infrastructure ideas. The creation of this incubator fulfils an aspect of the TLP charter's scope to support such activities.

Scope

The Eclipse Adoptium Incubator Project provides a dedicated a place to try out new runtime, build, test, and infrastructure ideas of the Adoptium Top Level Project .

Description

The intent of the proposed Eclipse Adoptium Incubator is to foster collaboration, and hopefully results in work proceeding to contribution by their original authors into upstream projects, including OpenJDK, or moving the work into a new Eclipse Adoptium project. The Adoptium Incubator would not make any releases itself.

Why Here?

It is within the scope of the Eclipse Adoptium Top Level Project's charter to innovate, test new ideas, grow functionality in the areas of runtime, build, test, and infrastructure. All of this will be possible through the subproject Eclipse Adoptium Incubator.
