Development of a driver model for realistic driver behavior in highway traffic simulations together with partners. Due to the complexity of the project the development together with other partners is highly desired.
Eclipse SCM provides a cognitive driver behavior model with standardized interfaces for the use in traffic simulation tools. Out of scope is the development of the traffic simulation tool itself.
The Stochastic Cognitive Model (SCM) is a driver behavior model for the use in multi-agent highway traffic simulations. SCM models cognitive processes of human drivers ranging from gaze behavior over situation recognition to decision on a specific action. SCM agents are further parametrized by driver parameters to ensure a range of driver behavior by different SCM agents and thus a high level of realism in the traffic simulation.
At Eclipse there other projects with regard to traffic simulations, e.g. SUMO, openPASS, etc. That’s why we’d also like to have the SCM project at Eclipse.
No legal issues known to us.
Start of the project should be end of Q1 2023.
SCM will be presented at various conferences in 2023, e.g. ESV or safe.tech. The current SCM model is a model designed for highway traffic. However, the future direction will be modelling of urban scenarios. An exemplary implementation into the openPASS simulator is intended for next year as well.
