The Orbit project provides a repository of bundled versions of third party libraries that are approved for use in one or more Eclipse projects. The repository maintains current and old versions of such libraries to facilitate current builds as well as the rebuilding of historical output. The contents of Orbit are available in several different forms (e.g., Update Site, download archives, ...). As the Eclipse tooling evolves, developers will be able to easily obtain and add supplied bundles to their workspace or target platform.
The goal of PDE Build is to facilitate the automation of plug-in build processes. Essentially, PDE Build produces Ant scripts based on development-time information provided by, for example, the plugin.xml and build.properties files. The generated Ant scripts, can fetch the relevant projects from a CVS repository, build jars, Javadoc, source zips, put everything together in a format ready to ship and send it out to a remote location (e.g., a local network or a downloads server).
Object Teams adds new dimensions of modularity for extreme re-use while sustaining a crisp architecture that's a breeze to maintain during long-term software evolution. — This is done by extending object oriented programming with the concept of Roles which are grouped into Teams. — The Object Teams Development Tooling supports efficient development using OT/J by seamlessly and comprehensively extending JDT.
The Gyrex project is an Eclipse Open Source project for creating OSGi based server solutions. Gyrex provides a platform on top of the Equinox OSGi framework to allow seamless and pain-free operation of Equinox server clusters. It also provides frameworks and concepts for developing, deploying and scaling applications on top of Gyrex based clouds.
The Eclipse Riena platform is the foundation for building multi-tier enterprise client/server applications. As such Riena is broadening the usage of the service oriented architecture of OSGi/Equinox by providing access to local and remote services in a transparent way. Using this uniform programming model, the components of Riena and the business components of the enterprise application can be developed regardless of their target location. Components are later easily placed on client or server depending on the business requirements.
SMILA - Unified Information Access Architecture is an extensible framework for building big data and search solutions to access unstructured information in the enterprise. Besides providing essential infrastructure components and services, SMILA also delivers ready-to-use add-on components, like connectors to most relevant data sources.
