2.2.0
Major improvements:
- New lightweight SQLite backend. This SQLite fragment produced the best results among our backends in a recently published set of benchmarks.
Minor improvements:
- EOL: added support for "packageName::typeName" (#18).
- UI: do not allow an index to be created without the necessary components (#26).
- Apache Thrift upgraded to 0.13.0.
- Server product upgraded to use Eclipse 2022-03 as a base.
Changes:
- Java 11+ is now required, in line with recent Eclipse releases.
- The old BPMN components have been discontinued, as the built-in EMF support in Hawk can parse them normally now that metamodels are automatically registered as needed, so long as BPMN support has been previously installed (e.g. via the BPMN2 Modeler project).
The project leadership certifies that the APIs in this release are "Eclipse Quality".
A license feature has been introduced in this release, unifying the licenses across all binary and source features.
Some additional error checking has been added to the Eclipse-based UI in this release.
The BPMN plugin has been removed, as the same functionality can now be obtained using the standard EMF support if an EMF-compatible BPMN parser is available (e.g. the Eclipse BPMN2 Modeler).
The project continues to be used by research groups in America and Europe for collecting historic information about evolving models, and using it to mine software repositories and explain self-adaptive systems using runtime models.
