Project:
Eclipse Amlen™
Release:

1.0.0.0

Description:

This is the first release of Eclipse Amlen - it is very similar to the Initial Contribution of IBM WIoTP Message Gateway.

All the existing features from IBM WIoTP Message Gateway work when built with Eclipse Infrastructure and the resulting builds are stable.

API Certification:

The project leadership certifies that the APIs in this release are "Eclipse Quality".

Security Issues:

We have a very small list of dependencies for the server itself and will issue updates as the dependencies need updating.

Conforms To UI/UX Guidelines:
Not verified
Usability Details:

The UI largely is unchanged from the previous product (donated to Eclipse). It is translated into a number of languages and anything that can be acheived in the UI can also be acheived on the command line which aids accessibility.

Standards:

Amlen implements the MQTT protocol standards 3.1.1 and 5.0

Communities:

There are existing networks of users of the code prior to donation to Eclipse. Interactions with this users is currently mostly in private email and meetings but we are encouraging more public forums - in particular our slack channel (#amlen) on the Eclipse IoT slack workspace has seen a number of questions from new users. A number of articles have been published on the Amlen blog guiding new users,

Development has so far been done by the existing committers but we are open to contributions from new contributors and Amlen has been described in a number of public talks e.g. at FOSDEM 2022. At least two companies (including TxMQ - https://www.txmq.com/ and Rock.IT https://rockit-consulting.com/ ) who have not been previously involved in the development of the codebase are actively investigating offering paid support for Amlen.
