The new release will incorporate all bug fixes that were fixed in the last one year. These are mostly related to the model space and the incremental pattern matching engine
The project leadership certifies that the APIs in this release are "Eclipse Quality".
Since the VIATRA2 project is an Eclipse GMT subproject in the incubation phase, its architecture was continously revised and improved. The APIs and extension points provide a very modular architecture consisting of independent components and services. Therefore, the framework is ready to be used with the Eclipse 4 platform (with the compatibility layer).
There were until now no security related bug report. The nature of the project (model transformation framework) is not really relevant for security issues.
We maintain an extensive documentation of VIATRA2 in the eclipse.org wiki together with several examples.
The release follows general Eclipse UI guidelines except multiple language support because of limited development capacity.

For this release, there are no relevant standards for VIATRA2.
The project has already several users, especially visible in newsgroup posts. We have 6 active committers from a single organization (listed as indiviuals). VIATRA2 has been presented in many academic papers.
Release and Restructuring Review
The Restructuring Review is initialized in accordance with the Modeling Project Restructuring, and consists of moving all content outside the GMT subproject.
