Election for Andrea Aime as Committer on Eclipse ImageN

Nominee
Project
Role Type
Criteria

Andrea Amie is a well respected leader in the geospatial free and open source
community who joins us from the JAI-Ext project.

Andrea has outlined a roadmap for integrating JAI-Ext with the ImageN roadmap
and I would like to nominate him for commit access to help stabilize this
codebase (he brings a wealth of experience on this topic) and ideas to work
towards a unified roadmap.

It is my pleasure to nominate Andrea Aime and I look forward to working with
him on ImageN.

PMC Approval

  • Wayne Beaton (+1) The foundational principles in the EDP require a public demonstration of merit. I see no such demonstration here. Under normal circumstances, the PMC would veto this election and invite the nominee to contribute to the project via pull requests. However, the EDP affords the project leadership chain some discretion to appoint committers in exceptional cases. I believe that this project is currently in an exception state: it has no active committers. I am going to approve this election on that basis (in capacities as both PMC member and EMO representative), and ask the EMO to schedule a progress review in six months. The handbook describes how this is all supposed to work in a healthy and active Eclipse open source project: https://www.eclipse.org/projects/handbook/#elections-committer
