This release comprises a publish of the Eclipse Temurin binaries in line with the OpenJDK July 2021 PSU Quarterly update.
The binaries will be based upon OpenJDK 8u, 11u, and 16u code levels tagged as "jdk8u302-ga", "jdk-11.0.12-ga", "jdk-16.0.2-ga". That is the July 20, 2021, GA code level.
Supported platforms will be MacOS 64-bit Intel, Windows 64-bit Intel, and Linux 64-bit Intel.
The project leadership certifies that the APIs in this release are "Eclipse Quality".
The Temurin code has been updated and refreshed changed to produce binaries from the Eclipse Foundation. While the code and delivery process has been successful in the project before this release, it will be the first time a release has been done for the 11u and 16u source code streams since the code was updated to reflect the Temurin project. We will be in a position to check that the results of this release behave the same way as the binaries produced previously.
No known unresolved security issues were identified.
The Adoptium website is still in a basic form but has the essentials in place for the successful delivery of these binaries and has been tested as part of the 2021.07.07 release.
This release will have a more significant user, marketing, and promotion impact from this work and we will work with the EF to publicize this as the first full quarterly release from Adoptium as opposed to the previous project.
The binaries will have full usability criteria met, including all the usual Java SE capabilities, plus administrator tools to install and track the binaries in their environment.
