Compatibility
This is a minor release which includes only changes and enhancements which are backwards compatible. Users should be able to deploy 1.12.0 as a drop-in replacement for an existing Hono 1.11.x/1.10.x installation. When updating from a 1.10.x installation using Kafka as the messaging infrastructure, Kafka related configuration properties may need to be adapted as Kafka support in 1.10.x was still experimental.
Target Environments
Hono is implemented as a set of micro services. The primary artifacts are Docker images which can be deployed to arbitrary container orchestration frameworks. In particular, Hono supports deployment to Kubernetes, OpenShift by means of a Helm chart available from the Eclipse IoT Packages project.
