Description

The 0.10 release of Vorto focuses on a better developer experience by bringing the entire Vorto toolchain to the Cloud.

It primarily focuses on the Vorto Repository, in particular:

    - Built-in Web Editors for creating or editing models without the need to install any Eclipse Plugins

    - Governance workflows allowing to review and release models

    - Repository Plugin SDK to easily build and deploy custom vendor-specific Vorto Code Generators and hook them to the Vorto Repository

    - Model Attachments, to allow users to add additional documentation of devices for models

    - Model Security Settings

Security Issues

We take the confidentiality of models of our customers seriously and have build-in an extra layer of security in the repository, where each model owner is only allowed to see and edit her model in the repository and nobody else. Model Owners can specify the user IDs that they want to grant access to the models in order to get feedback or consume the model in their solution.

Usability Details

The repository is much faster and more robust than ever. We boosted the performance of searching models tremendously because we tracked, that users spent a fair amount of time looking for device functionality in the repository, e.g. also to describe new devices. Therefore we wanted to give a pleasant UX there as well.

End of Life

We spent a lot of effort in making the Model Creation a way better experience for customers. This led to the decision to deprecate the Eclipse IoT Vorto Toolset Plugins (introduced in Vorto 0.9) and replace it with the much nicer cloud based editors.
