Deprecated APIs have been removed form the code base while at the same time some existing APIs have been changed in a way that breaks backward compatibility.
Existing user code may need to be migrated as described in the MIgration Hints.
Some behaviour changes, especially in DTLS, complies to updated RFC. That may require to update the other peer as well or to configure Californium to support backwards compatible behaviour (not compliant, if possible at all).
