Eclipse Remote Application Platform

Scope

The Eclipse Remote Application Platform™ (RAP) began as a framework to bring Rich Client Platform (RCP) applications to the web. Over time, it has evolved into a versatile platform for building applications that run on a remote server. With the adoption of an open protocol, RAP now supports alternative client implementations beyond traditional Ajax-based approaches.

While RAP retains strong support for RCP APIs, many developers leverage it for lightweight web applications using only SWT and JFace. This flexibility makes RAP an ideal choice for modular, server-based applications with diverse client interfaces.
