MicroProfile Metrics aims to provide a set of Java interfaces and programming models which allow Java developers to add metrics instrumentation to their applications. MicroProfile Metrics also aims to provide convenient ways for operations teams to gather metrics data from compatible implementations.
The goal of this release is to provide features requested by the community and to make it easy to implement the API using metrics libraries popular in the industry.
Key new features:
- Simplified API, making it easy for vendors to implement using metrics libraries common in the industry
- Custom scopes, enabling application writers to create their own easy-to-separate set of metrics
- Rename of metrics to eliminate prepending names with scope names
